24 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 24 Weeks
Total weight gain:  23 lbs
Maternity clothes? Still haven’t bitten that bullet. I hope to just have to buy a couple t-shirts and survive on Lululemon (it really is the pregnant woman’s best friend. Those wunder-under tights are ah-ma-zing!)
Stretch marks? None yet
Sleep: Sleeping so good
Best moment this week: Getting to hear baby’s heartbeat again. It always amazes me!
Miss anything? After a particularly long day teaching grade 9’s and then a subsequent 3 hour Christmas food shop for when my company is here next week I was reeeeeaaaallly craving a glass of wine or a beer. It’s the first serious want I’ve had for one of those in a long time.
Movement: All the time now! You can see baby move from the outside which is so neat and I’m just so happy that my husband can be involved in this part of the pregnancy. How amazing for him to put his hands on my tummy and feel our little miracle kicking and punching away.
Food Cravings: One word: chocolate
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope!
Have you started to show yet? I’m getting bigger and bigger and I’ve really embraced my pregnant body this week. My husband was so nice as to go out and buy me some pretty new bras and I have to say that these huge new knockers look great in them! Hah the perks of being pregnant…huge boobs.
Gender prediction: Definitely boy
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? It is on its way out.
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, happy, happy!
Looking forward to: My family is coming this weekend for Christmas and we couldn’t be more excited. There is something so special about having your parents and family around that just lifts your mood and spirits (especially around Christmas). I’m so excited to have my mom here to help me get baby stuff ready and do some shopping because we haven’t gotten to do a lot of that since I’ve been pregnant! My parents also have a new puppy and my puppies are very excited to have a new playmate here with them! I just love the holidays!!!

23 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain:  Hmm I’ll find out next week at my doctor’s appointment. I don’t really want to know
Maternity clothes? Not yet but some t-shirts are creeping up there and I may have to succumb to some pregnancy clothes. I’m thinking of ordering some from the American Gap as they have some cute ones that are known to fit smaller. I would like to say that we have such a limited selection here in Canada. I don’t fit into a THING at Thyme Maternity, plus the quality is so cheap! It was just so annoying to find that even the xxs sizes at Thyme were waaaay too big across the shoulders and in the arms! So frustrating! And I really don’t want to spend $100 on a t-shirt from some of the boutique style shops that do have nice, quality things. And yes, I know I’m picky but I have to like it!
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Sleeping great still.
Best moment this week: Feeling some really hard kicks in there! I love just laying back and feeling my tummy jump!
Miss anything? No but I know I’ll miss Bailey’s and coffee on Christmas morning.
Movement: Yes! So much of it!
Food Cravings: Spicy food. So yummy. The heartburn sucks though hah.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No, thank goodness! I’m feeling so good I feel so lucky.
Have you started to show yet? I really should take this question off of here. But yes, I am.
Gender prediction: Boy, boy, boy!!
Labor signs: Nope
Belly button in or out? In between.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Hearing baby’s heartbeat at our next doctor’s appointment!

22 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain:  17 pounds
Maternity clothes? No but I’m thinking that I’ll eventually have to get some t-shirts. I did have to go up a size in bras though (did NOT buy ugly maternity bras fyi) and will probably have to go up a size again.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I seriously have the smallest bladder ever so I get up about 3 times every night to use the washroom. Other than that though I am sleeping great.
Best moment this week: Feeling stronger kicks and punches in there!
Miss anything? Actually no. We went to both my husband and my Christmas parties this weekend and while everyone was drunk (and feeling yucky the next day) I was sober and felt great the next day. Good enough to almost finish my Christmas shopping!!
Movement: It’s getting stronger day by day
Food Cravings: None this week
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope!
Have you started to show yet? Um ya.
Gender prediction: I have a really good feeling still that it’s a boy. However; having said that it will probably be a girl.
Labor signs: no
Belly button in or out? Halfway
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: I’m looking forward to our nursery furniture showing up this month! We picked out the most gorgeous set and I cannot wait to set it up in the nursery and start decorating!!

21 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 21 Weeks
Total weight gain:  17 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleeping great!
Best moment this week: The BEST moment this week was having my husband feel the baby kick!! I really couldn’t believe it and neither could he. I could feel the babe kicking (which is getting more often now) and so I told him to put his hand on my belly. Well that baby must have wound up and really given my belly a good punch or kick because it was the hardest one I have felt yet and I was SO excited that he got to feel it too! He felt a few other smaller ones but I am just so excited that he can experience that!
Miss anything? Baileys because it’s Christmas.
Movement: They are starting to be more frequent now.
Food Cravings: None really this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No
Have you started to show yet? I look like I’m smuggling a basketball under my shirt
Gender prediction: Boy
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out? It’s kind of half way in between.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!! So so so happy!!
Looking forward to: Just looking forward to more movement and for the movement to continue getting stronger.

20 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 20 Weeks
Total weight gain: I'd really prefer not to say. I hit 137 this week. My doc said I'm doing great in this department and may find myself putting on more weight then others as I was so tiny to begin with. We'll go with that...
Maternity clothes? Still just using what I have!
Stretch marks? None yet
Sleep: Sleeping okay. The belly is definitely getting in the way now and I’m a stomach sleeper so it’s getting more difficult to get comfortable!
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat again at our doctor’s appointment.
Miss anything? Having a Bailey’s at the Christmas parade.
Movement: Still nothing major and I’m getting antsy for that to happen!! I want my husband to be able to feel babe move.
Food Cravings: Nothing this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No
Have you started to show yet? Um ya, I think that goes without saying
Gender prediction: Boy still. I even had a dream about it!!
Labor signs: Nope!
Belly button in or out? It’s definitely getting shallow these days.
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Everything holidays and Christmas. Which also gets me excited for Christmas next year when I will have a little babe to wear all those adorable Christmas sleepers and dressy outfits!

What a fun week we have had.  My parents were here over the weekend as well as my brother, his wife (who is also pregnant) and our niece. We all had a fun visit at a banquet and my mom and I had a great time putting up the remainder of my Christmas decorations.  As well, my parents came with us to an antiques and collectables show and I got some fabulous vintage ornaments! I’ve been picking them up at flea markets and stuff like that and I just love them so much. So much nicer and have so much more character then the newer, more modern ones! This weekend we will be trekking out into the bush to pick out a Christmas tree and I just can’t wait for that. Also we will be hitting up the Santa parade and doing some fun gingerbread house decorating with some good friends. I just LOVE this time of year. There are so many fun, festive things to do with friends and family and I can’t wait to share that all with our babe next year!

19 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 19 Weeks
Total weight gain: I will find out at my doctors appointment on Wednesday.
Maternity clothes? I went shopping this weekend. I just bought a size or two up in jeans and I am still the same size in tops I just made sure to buy things that were super stretchy! It was nice to buy things that fit properly (the jeans) and that made me feel good about my new body.
Stretch marks? Nope, not yet anyway.
Sleep: Still sleeping well.
Miss anything? I'm not really missing anything this week! (except maybe NHL hockey but that has nothing to do with my pregnancy!)
Movement: I’m still just feeling a few little wiggly movements in there.
Food Cravings: Sweets, big time this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing really.
Have you started to show yet? Oh yes.
Gender prediction: Boy for sure!
Labor signs:  No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Best moment this week? We got to have or next ultrasound and it was so amazing to see how much baby had changed in the short time since our last one. It was so great and heartwarming to see the little one on the screen and see (and hear!) that little heart beating away! Definitely an amazing moment for both my husband and I.
Looking forward to? My next doctors appointment next week to see how much bigger I've gotten! Oh and getting the rest of my Christmas decorating done!

This week was a great week. First of all, it was my birthday and we got to have an ultrasound that day! I got spoiled and had an amazing birthday. Also, my husband put up our Christmas lights and I got a bunch of our Christmas decorations up which just gets me so pumped for the season! I LOVE this time of year!! I was busy drinking tea, listening to Christmas music, and wrapping gifts today and just generally getting myself excited out of my mind that Christmas is coming. I've got lots of Christmassy things planned with friends and family over the next few weekends and I'm just so looking forward to it all!!

Teaching Your Children About Marriage

As my husband and I embark on the wonderful journey of parenthood, I feel like our marriage is stronger than ever. I am so lucky to have such a sweet, amazing man to share my life with.  Growing up, I watched my parents marriage and felt that one day that is exactly what I wanted.  Despite being totally grossed out when they kissed and held hands in public I must say that in my own marriage these are things I cherish and I am glad that my parents had such a great example for me to look up to. If the fact that my husband kisses me or hugs me in public makes anyone uncomfortable (including my children!) then I say tough and that maybe you should try it!  As a child I was told to expect nothing but the best from a partner and I should set this example as well. No one is perfect but you must be the perfect person for your partner. Despite my raging, crazy pregnancy hormones my husband manages to be the best man he can be for me and I am so blessed that he is so understanding and caring. I have come up with a few things to show your children what a marriage should be like.

1. Respect your husband. Always.

2. Never argue in front of your children.  Even if you disagree with something he has said or done, save that conversation for later when you are alone. Always back him up in front of your children.

3. Never ever (this is a no brainer!) talk badly about your husband in front of your children or anyone for that matter. This will give your children the idea that it is okay to speak badly about their spouse in the future. Always have positive words about your husband.

4. Show physical displays of affection to your husband in front of your children. Hold hands, hug, kiss, show your children that you love each other and they will replicate this with their spouse in the future. They'll be grossed out but it provides an excellent example for the future.

5. Be the example of compromise. Always come to a mutual agreement and this will show your children that you are a united front working together.

6.  Have fun with your husband. Laugh and have a good time.  This will show your children that this is what marriage is truly all about: happiness.

Marriage is work. It's not always going to be easy but it should always be filled with love and understanding. I am a lucky woman to have had such amazing parents with an equally amazing marriage that I can use as an example in my own.  I am equally lucky to have my husband who (despite the cliche) makes me a better version of myself! I cherish my husband and my marriage and I never forget to tell him just how lucky I am to have him. I'll leave you with a photo of my husband and I last summer. Lets hope I get that body back after the baby is born!! I love you babe.

18 Week Pregnant

How far along? 18 Weeks
Total weight gain: Hopefully 10 lbs only still.  I don’t have a scale in my house so I won’t know until my next doctor’s appointment.
Maternity clothes? I have one pair of jeans that still button but the rest of my jeans and dress pants I wear undone with the belly band overtop. Still okay with my own tops though but I definitely look like I’m smuggling a small basketball under my shirt.
Stretch marks? Nope!
Sleep: Still sleeping well.
Miss anything? Well my mother in law is making me a dress to wear to Christmas parties and I miss being able to wear anything! I wanted a form fitting dress with a cute little peplum (I have a blue one that is adorable and I wanted a black one) but that just wouldn’t look attractive right now.
Movement: I’m still just feeling a few little wiggly movements in there.
Food Cravings: I am back into loving the chocolate ice cream.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still don’t want to eat ground beef for some reason!
Have you started to show yet? Definitely
Gender prediction: Still think boy
Labor signs:  No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: My next ultrasound on my birthday!!

17 Weeks

How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain:  10 lbs. up 4lbs in the past 4 weeks. Now weighing in at 130lbs (eek!) up from 120lbs to begin with.
Maternity clothes? No, just surviving on leggings, the belly band and cute belts.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I was sick this week but despite that, and the constant peeing, I am sleeping okay. Although still getting used to not sleeping on my back.
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat again when we went for my check-up. It was SO loud and easy for the doctor to find this week which was really cool.
Miss anything? My bikini body? Just kidding!
Movement: Feeling some “fishy” movements here and there.
Food Cravings: Mandarin Oranges
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still not eating ground beef
Have you started to show yet? Yes I think I am officially showing now. I had a student ask me if I was pregnant this week. He was nervous I was going to say no! I should have said no just to be funny hahaha. Either way, I am embracing my belly now as I feel I now look pregnant and not just chunky!
Gender prediction: Still boy
Labor signs: No.
Belly button in or out? In. Going to have to take my belly button ring out at some point though!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: I had my first weepy pregnancy moment this week when I realized how big my belly was! Hello hormones!! To my husband’s credit he was very understanding and is ALWAYS telling me how beautiful I look which is reassuring as I get bigger. I think I scared even myself though as I have never been the girl who thinks she looks fat in anything!
Looking forward to: Our next ultrasound and starting to pick out nursery things! I got a giant giraffe to match my giraffe lamp that I had as a baby. Both are just adorable!

I had the stomach flu this week. Let me just say…YUCK. It was horrible. No more horrible than having it when I was not pregnant but horrible nonetheless. After disinfecting everything I am hoping that hubby dearest does not catch it (see my blog post a while back on the man cold…could you imagine a full blown man-flu!?). Regardless, despite being tired and still no appetite I am on the mend thank goodness. This week we got to go to our monthly check up and everything seems to be going smoothly! Hearing baby’s heartbeat is always so reassuring not to mention pretty amazing as, despite the belly, I sometimes forget I am even pregnant! We are definitely looking forward to our next ultrasound which should be in the next month or so. Oh, and we got a new due date based on our dating ultrasound. Our new due date is April 9th which is about a week behind what the doc originally thought (but what I already knew) hence why there has been a two week wait for this blog post as my body was catching up!

Yummy!!

So I realized that I haven't posted a recipe in what seems like ages. Which is funny really because I have been STARVING since about the 7th week of my pregnancy. Like seriously, will eat anything in sight.  And since I am the regular dinner maker in my house I get to make whatever I want.  I just made a YUM recipe that I found on Pinterest. Probably not that good for you, but yummy none the less. So here it is (and it's super easy too, I promise!).

Chedder Bacon Ranch Chicken Penne (long name!)

1 pound Penne pasta
6 strips of bacon, diced
1 tablespoon butter
2 boneless skinless chicken breast halves, cut into bite-size pieces
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 packet ranch dressing mix
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Cook pasta according to package directions in boiling salted water; drain, return to pot, and keep warm.

2. Meanwhile, cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Drain all but one tablespoon of bacon drippings from the pan.

3. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Add the butter to the reserved bacon drippings, then add the chicken to the same skillet. Cook until tender, no longer pink, and slightly browned.

4. Sprinkle the flour and ranch dressing mix over the chicken, stirring to coat evenly. Stir in the milk, and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in the cheddar cheese and half of the reserved bacon; cook and stir until the cheese is melted. Taste for seasoning and adjust as needed.

5.Toss the chicken and sauce with your pasta and serve with the reserved bacon on top. To be honest, I just put all the bacon in with the chicken and didn't bother with any on top.

16 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain:  I will find out at the doctors next week as I don’t have a scale in my house. I hope not too much!
Maternity clothes? Still making due with my own clothes. I did go and try on maternity tops on the weekend (the pants are WAY to short so they just aren’t going to happen). What a disappointing experience. EVERYTHING was giant, even if I had a big belly! Even the size xxs. So I guess I’ll have to survive on my own clothes.
Stretch marks? None yet
Sleep: Still getting up to pee and have a glass of water 2-3 times a night.
Miss anything? As my hubby sat down with a frosty glass of Stella to watch the Packers/Texans game with me I was supremely jealous.
Movement: Just some flutters here and there but nothing major.
Food Cravings: Chocolate ice cream with waffle cones.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Just red meat still
Have you started to show yet? Just a little belly (which gets so bloated and huge by the end of the day) but nothing that screams pregnant lady. Which is unfortunate, because I just feel like I look fat.
Gender prediction: Boy still
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? In. And I’m curious as to when this really happens for everyone?!
Wedding rings on or off?  On
Happy or moody most of the time: Soooo happy.
Looking forward to: My 18 week doctors appointment, feeling some more movement, and getting a bigger belly.

Oh and PS my amazing husband decided to get in on the chalkboard action this week! Didn't he do an awesome job?!

15 Weeks

How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain: 6 pounds
Maternity clothes? Just the bella band so far (and I can still button my jeans it just isn’t sexy with my growing belly)
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping well and peeing only 1 or 2 times a night now.
Miss anything? Not missing anything this week
Movement:  I SWEAR I felt something this week while I was drinking an eggnog latte. It didn’t feel like gas it just felt like a fish swimming around in there or something! Maybe I’m crazy but I think I felt movement
Food Cravings: Still Macintosh apples. Oh and Japanese Village.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Red meat
Have you started to show yet? Still just looking a bit chubby
Gender prediction: Boy
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: So happy!!
Looking forward to: Our next baby doctor appointment at the end of the month (so we can hear the heartbeat again) and getting a bigger belly!

My must haves for being a new mommy!

As I embark on my second trimester I feel the excitement growing and my shopping monster is just itching to get out. There a few items on my wish list (and already bought list...OOPS! haha) that I thought that I would share with you.

The first is my new diaper bag which I just ordered off Zulily.  For those moms and moms to be out there who haven't checked out this site...do it! It basically offers you different sample sales everyday for you and the kiddos.  Much to my excitement today they were offering Timi and Leslie diaper bags.  Since seeing this bag in one of my pregnancy mags I have been dreaming about it. It is cute, functional, stylish, and is lacking all things that make it look like a diaper bag to an outsider. The result? Beauty and functionality without Winnie the Pooh.  What do I mean by that? I'm talking about those diaper bags with cartoon characters and such on them. It's not for the baby to carry, its for YOU to carry so why does it have to look like a baby blanket? Okay, so I'll have to get a separate diaper bag or backpack for dad to carry as he won't be caught dead with this one but I am so okay with that.
Isn't it so cute?

Second on my list of must haves is the Ergo Baby.  After reading reviews and researching baby carriers that would work for both my hubby and me I have decided that the Ergo Baby is for us. It may not have that cute factor but it is functional and it comes with a newborn insert for when babe is still very tiny. This is next on my "to purchase" list.

Third is Mustela stretch mark cream.  I have been using this every morning and night to fend off stretch marks and it is so nice and it smells great.  I hope that it does the trick.  The downside is that no one really carries it in Canada so you either have to order it from Sephora (where tube #2 is coming from) or buy it on a trip down to the States (where tube #1 came from).  Either way, I have heard this stuff is THE BEST and blows any other cream out of the water. Lets hope thats true.

So far those are all the things I want or couldn't live without out. I know that there will be lots more as my pregnancy progresses!!

14 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain:  Still only about 6 pounds
Maternity clothes? Just the bella band. My jeans still button but not very comfortably so the bella band just pops over the unbuttoned top button and its sooooo much more comfortable!
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping well and the peeing has diminished to just 1 or 2 times a night
Best moment this week: Getting to FINALLY spill the beans to everyone!
Miss anything? Being able to cook with anything besides chicken. Beef still turns my stomach.
Movement: Not yet but we are so looking forward to that
Food Cravings: Cupcakes!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still can’t even think about ground beef.
Have you started to show yet?  Looking a little chunky for sure. It definitely gets bigger by the end of the day
Gender prediction: Still boy!
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Starting to get a bigger bump and showing more

This week was a good week. I’m so glad the fatigue of the first trimester is gone and I don’t feel like I need a nap at noon anymore!! It was so nice to let the cat out of the bag and let everyone know about our special news.  After seeing the heartbeat and hearing it at the doctors I felt everything was finally real and progressing as it should so that we could finally tell the world our amazing news!! We went to the baby fair this week and my amazing mother in law bought us some really cute hats and we learned some more about cloth diapering as I think that’s the route we are going to go. My mother in law has some great patterns and fabric for cloth diapers and they are just ADOREABLE as well as functional! I had to bust out the bella band this week and it is an AMAZING invention. I need to get one in all colours!! So much more comfortable than being squished into jeans that shouldn’t quite button! I can’t wait until I’m showing a bit more so it looks more like a baby in there than just one too many cupcakes!

13 Weeks Pregnant

How far along?  13 weeks
Total weight gain:  6 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet
Stretch marks? Nope!
Sleep: Still sleeping well except for peeing all the time!
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat for the first time and seeing him or her on the screen at my ultrasound!! Baby Belton was moving around so much they couldn’t get a very clear photo.
Miss anything? A beer when we went to the Packers, Seahawks game
Movement: Not yet but I’m getting really excited for that
Food Cravings:. Eggnog lattes which I satisfied today when I saw they had eggnog at the grocery store!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still don’t want to eat ground beef AT ALL.
Have you started to show yet? At the end of the day. I’m a little chunky but not a big bump yet.
Gender prediction: Still boy
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or moody most of the time: So happy, especially after the ultrasound and hearing the heartbeat. We’re so glad that everything is going okay!
Looking forward to: Feeling some kicks in there!

This week was pretty amazing! Getting to hear the heartbeat at the doctor’s office and then actually getting to see the baby and heartbeat at the ultrasound was the best moment (other then seeing the positive pregnancy test!) so far. Baby was moving around a TON so it was hard for the ultrasound tech to get a clear photo but she did get a side view for us and one of an arm. We can’t wait for all the exciting things to come and we’re so glad that we can finally let the cat out of the bag and tell all of our friends and family!

12 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 12 weeks
Total weight gain:  Still only about 4 pounds
Maternity clothes? No, although flowy Lululemon tops and leggings are my best friend to hide this “awkward” stage of pregnancy where I just look fat.
Stretch marks? No, but I just ordered my first tube of Mustela to fend them off!
Have you told friends and family yet? Not everyone knows yet. We wanted to have our first ultrasound and see that everything is going okay before we spilled the beans to everyone. Our parents know though.
Sleep: Good, still peeing about 3 times a night. Oh and so thirsty at night!
Best moment this week: I’m just feeling really good this week! Nothing exciting to report though.
Miss anything? Ummm its football season and I can’t have beer. In fact, we are going to Monday night football on Sept 24th (go Packers!) and I can’t get a beer at the game! And hockey season will probably be locked out (much to my husband’s disappointment) although it’s good for me as hockey without a beer in hand, just isn’t cool.
Movement: None yet, but I am seriously so excited for that. Hopefully I only have to wait another month or so.
Food Cravings: Macintosh apples.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really, I just wake up feeling a bit hungover actually. As soon as I eat I feel better
Have you started to show yet? I asked my husband at Costco this week if he thought I looked pregnant or just fat. He informed me that to other people I probably just look like I ate too many donuts! I’ll be so happy when I actually have a big bump and don’t just look awkward.
Gender prediction: I’ve been reading gender “myths” this week and heard that you feel sicker when you’re carrying a girl because of the increased estrogen in your body so I still think we’re having a boy.
Labor signs: No
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: The moodiness only appeared between the 6th and 8th weeks (thank goodness for my husband) so I would have to say that I’m just super happy all the time.
Looking forward to: Our first ultrasound on Friday!

My hubby did the chalkboard this week. What an awesome job he did! This week I have just felt super anxious for our ultrasound next Friday. Because I have felt few pregnancy symptoms (apart from my monster boobs) I just want to be reassured that everything is progressing nicely and nothing is wrong. I am naturally a high stress person so I really should quit googling horror stories and such about having no pregnancy symptoms. My husband likes to reassure me and just says that I am that pregnant person that everyone loves to hate because I’m feeling great and will probably be in my high heals until I deliver! I sure hope he’s right because I do love my high shoes…especially when I’m teaching those high school boys and need to look them in the eye!

Back to my boobs though. Those that know me know that I am naturally small chested (thanks Mom) and since I’ve been pregnant I’ve probably grown about a cup size. It really is awesome and I’ve definitely been checking them out in the mirror and wearing some good push up bras!  Although, now I see why larger chested women need a good sports bra as I was helping my class warm up for the terry fox run this week and realized that jumping in a regular bra is a big no-no as it hurts (thanks pregnancy hormones), but also, really isn’t attractive! Anyhow, I’m sure I’ll get sick of them, but for now it feels (and looks!) awesome.

11 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 11 Weeks
Total weight gain: About 4 pounds
Maternity clothes? Not yet although I may need to invest in some bigger bras.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping well except for having to pee every few hours.
Best moment this week: Getting my ultrasound date!
Miss anything? Still coffee. A decaff Pumpkin Spice latte is just not the same. But still yummy! Oh and popcorn! Usually it’s my favorite food and ever since I got pregnant I don’t want to eat it at all!
Movement: Not yet
Food Cravings: Ooh La La Cupcakes. I satisfied that one today
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still red meat
Have you started to show yet? There’s a tiny bump but it gets way bigger by the end of the day
Gender prediction:  I still think boy and hubby still thinks girl
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or moody most of the time: I’m pretty darn happy.
Looking forward to: Ultrasound in two weeks!

This was a good week with nothing to exciting to report except that we got my early ultrasound date in the mail! Sept 21st at 1:30. I’m really not looking forward to the full bladder and having to drink a litre of water but oh well! It will be nice to find out how far along we actually are and to see our little bean on the screen! Also looking forward to my next baby doctor appointment on Sept 26st where hopefully our doctor will try and find the heartbeat on the Doppler and will have the results of our ultrasound so I can finally find out how far along we are!. I will feel so much better once we hear that little heart beating away!

On a side note it feels like fall time and you all know what that means! Holidays! I love all the holidays and decorating is so much fun. I can’t wait to go out and buy all those mini pumpkins, gourds, and ornamental corn and decorate our house up!

10 Weeks Pregnant

How far along? 10 weeks
Total weight gain: None yet!
Maternity clothes? Nope, I’m hoping to get away with normal clothes for a while. Hello Lululemon all the time!
Stretch marks? No, but I’m about to order my first tube of Mustela. I have a feeling it will be my best friend for the next 30ish weeks.
Sleep: Good! Although I do get up to pee a few times throughout the night. Feeling pretty tired in the late afternoons.
Best moment this week: My first baby doc appointment!
Miss anything? Not yet. I have a feeling I’ll miss full caffeine Christmas drinks though when they come in season. Oh well, decaff it is!
Movement: Still too soon.
Food Cravings: Too many to list. Mostly food in general. Although ice cream is pretty awesome.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Red meat, seafood.
Have you started to show yet? No, but I’m so bloated by the end of every day that I might as well be.
Gender prediction: I say boy, hubby says girl.
Labor signs: None
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time!
Looking forward to:  Early ultrasound so we can get a more accurate due date and feeling the baby move.

This week was a good one.  On the upside I got to go to my first baby doctor appointment which was mostly just paperwork. Nothing too exciting, I’ll be looking forward to the next one where we will hopefully hear the heartbeat.  My doc ordered an early ultrasound as dating my pregnancy is a bit difficult (hello whacked up cycles while trying to conceive). She dated it (on the day of my doctor’s appointment) as 9 weeks and 2 days, however that was simply going from the day of my LMP and that’s only for women with “normal” cycles. Still waiting to hear when my ultrasound will be, I’m hoping soon though as I’m anxious to see baby and find out exactly how far along we are!

Thank you to pinterest and the blog littlebabygarvin.blogspot.com for the AWESOME chalkboard idea. What a fun way to document our pregnancy and also a great way for family to see how we are all doing! We will hopefully be posting these every week so stay tuned to see the bump grow!

Another crazy dog post...

Okay so it's been a while since I posted about my dogs. They are nuts; end of story.  So my husband and I ran the TC10K which is a huge race where we live.  It's actually the second biggest 10k race in Canada which is pretty cool.  So after running our little (okay maybe not so little) butts off we just wanted to go home, shower, and relax.  As we are pulling up to our house I see that my wonderful and amazing girl, Midnight, decided to puncture my beautiful faux wood (the fact that I just wrote "woof" instead of "wood" means I must have dog on the brain) blinds.  So okay, not the first time and here we are thinking we can repair them, no big deal. Ya, well it is a big deal. Thats because she has now done it one too many times and I am out of spare slats for the blinds. And since I have these same size blinds on three other windows in my house means that she has done it a lot for me to run out. And as angry as we might have been coming home and seeing this, there is absolutely nothing you can do. You can't get mad; it's too late. And in slinks my other pup Ryder, who just knows that something wrong has gone on and here he is slinking around feeling terrible for something he didn't even do! And Midnight is happily dancing around at our feet so excited that we're home.  I can just about see what they might be thinking as this incident is happening. Ryder: OMG Midnight, you should NOT be doing that!! What are you thinking! We're going to get in huge trouble....Midnight: ahhhhhh, where did they go? I'm going to tapdance on the table. Now I'm going to steal butter off the counter. Now I'm going to eat the blinds. Uh oh, what did I do? Oh well...where did they go? Where did they go? Now I'm going to sniff my bum....Okay so maybe not an exact replica of the doggy conversation that went on but thats the gist of it I can assure you. Which brings me to the funny part of our little doggy family. Everytime we go out I ask my husband what he thinks the dogs are doing and we make up funny little anecdotes that perfectly describe their personalities. Sometimes we say that Midnight is sitting on our furniture bossing Ryder around, asking him to get her bones, water, and scratching behind her ears for her...and if you knew them, this would seem like a perfectly reasonable dog-day afternoon in our household. So are we all nuts? Oh probably, but I love my dogs so much and the fact that I have two of them constitutes a little craziness regardless. They make us laugh, cry, and get angry but at the end of the day there is nothing they could do to make me love them any less. They are amazing creatures that love us regardless of anything. Oh and if you too are a dog lover you HAVE to check out this website. It's hilarious! Go to textfromdog.tumblr.com.....you will laugh your butt off (and you don't need to run 10k to do that now do you).
